Timber Window Projects

In this section you can see a range of the restoration and repairs I have made to timber windows and doors from simple fixes through to deep rot removal and reconstruction.

Reactivating sealed, antique windows

This job involved bringing back to life and use a pair of bay windows in a Victorian Home which had been painted and as it turned out, screwed shut by a previous owner.

Repair and Glazing of Front Door

As part of a whole house renovation this owner of this Edwardian home wanted to repair the front door whilst retaining the original stained glass windows. These were taken out and made into double glazed units by a specialist. The door itself was then removed, repaired and extra space in the recess routed out to allow the door to take the thicker glass.

The door was then re glazed, new beading fitted, filled and painted to create a front door ready to take on another 100 years.

Renovation of Victorian timber sash windows in Moseley, B13, Birmingham

Complete renovation of a pair of timber sash windows requiring new glazing panes, sash cords and draftproofing elements from Reddiseals. This pair of windows had been painted shut and were unusable before being brought back to life and into fully functioning sash windows providing effective cooling in the summer and with the addition of draft proofing elements reducing heat loss in the winter.

Rot removal and repair of Victorian timber windows in Acocks Green, B29, Birmingham

Repairing a pair of ground floor windows, one with significant rot damage to the cil which required extensive repair. Removing the rotten timber and applying hardener to the remaining timber before splicing in new timber for the cil, this was then filled, primed and painted to a fresh new window.
